Why they are paler than the bears you remember
This is the first thing anyone notices, and it deserves a proper answer rather than an apology.
The bright, saturated, almost fluorescent colours of industrial fruit gums come from synthetic azo dyes. Six of them — tartrazine (E102), quinoline yellow (E104), sunset yellow (E110), carmoisine (E122), ponceau 4R (E124) and allura red (E129) — must by European law carry a warning on the label: “may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children”. That requirement came out of research into colourings and children's behaviour, and it is why a great many manufacturers reformulated rather than print it.
Organic certification does not permit any of them. The colour in these bears is fruit and plant — things like beetroot, black carrot, elderberry, safflower, spirulina and turmeric — and those give softer, deeper, less uniform colours.
They also fade in sunlight, which synthetic dyes do not. A bear that has been sitting in a bright window will lose colour. That is a sign of what it is made of, not a defect.
No gelatine — which is why they are firmer
Gelatine is collagen boiled out of pig or cattle hide and bone, and it is in almost every gum sweet sold. Pectin is a plant fibre from apple pomace and citrus peel.
Swapping one for the other makes these vegan, vegetarian, and suitable for halal and kosher diets — which is genuinely useful when you are buying sweets for a group of children and cannot ask everyone's household about every ingredient.
It also changes the texture. Gelatine is elastic: it stretches and it is chewed. Pectin is short: it yields cleanly and then melts. These bears are slightly firmer to the first bite and considerably less rubbery afterwards, and the fruit comes through faster because you are not chewing through a gel to reach it.
A good sweet to have in the house for other people's children
That is the practical case for them. No gelatine, no artificial colours, no lactose, no gluten, organic — which covers most of what a visiting parent might ask about, and means you do not have to hand over a packet and hope.
They are still sweets, and it is still sugar. Organic changes what is in them, not what they are.
The tin
Clip-top, and doing real work: pectin gums dry out and go hard in an open bag within days. Sealed, they stay as they should be. It is also why a tin of these can be handed over as a present without wrapping, and the tin lasts long after the bears are gone.
Practical notes
Small children: whole gums are a choking hazard for the very young. Cut them up or wait until they are older.
Teeth: chewy sweets stick to teeth, which is what dentists mind about far more than the sugar itself. Not last thing at night, and a glass of water afterwards.

Storage
Cool, dry, clip closed, out of direct sunlight — both because heat softens them and because the natural colours genuinely fade in the light.
