Coconut and almond in a creamy pale coating — treatfuls' answer to the classic coconut bar, rebuilt without milk or refined sugar. A date-paste body carries desiccated coconut and roasted almonds, and the whole thing is enrobed in the brand's white-style coating.
About that “white chocolate”. It is worth being precise, because the pack colour promises something the recipe deliberately does not deliver. Legally, white chocolate must contain milk solids; this coating contains none. What treatfuls do instead is build the same pale, creamy effect from cocoa butter, rice drink powder and coconut powder, sweetened with erythritol. So it looks and behaves like white chocolate, tastes rounder and less cloying than the dairy original, and is entirely plant-based. Calling it “white chocolate” is shorthand, not a technical claim.
Erythritol, briefly. It is a sugar alcohol that occurs naturally in fruit and is produced by fermentation. It contributes almost no calories and, unlike most polyols, the body absorbs it and passes it out unchanged — which is why it is the best tolerated of the group. Very large quantities can still cause bloating in sensitive people, but the small amount in a coating is unlikely to bother anyone.
The flavour. Coconut and almond is an old and good pairing: coconut brings fat and perfume, almond brings a firm, slightly bitter crunch that stops the sweetness running away. Dates hold the middle ground. This one lands closer to a dessert than to a sports bar.
Keep it cool. The coating is cocoa butter, so it melts below body temperature. Somewhere cool and dry, away from the window. If it softens, chill it briefly to set it again.
