An organic instant breakfast bowl from Iswari, in raspberry — add water or plant milk, stir, wait a minute, eat.
The honest case for a product like this. Nobody needs an instant breakfast. What people need is a breakfast they will actually eat on the mornings when there is no time, because the realistic alternative is not a considered bowl of oats and fruit — it is a pastry from the nearest café, or nothing at all until eleven. Judged against that, a bowl of ground seeds, fruit and grain that takes sixty seconds is a genuinely useful thing to have in a cupboard. Judged against a proper breakfast made at home, it is a convenience product. Both are true, and which one applies depends entirely on your mornings.
Why raspberry works here. Instant breakfast blends are built on ground seeds and grains, which are nutritionally sensible and, on their own, quite flat — a soft, mild, slightly earthy base. Acidity is what rescues that, and raspberry has plenty of it. The tartness cuts through the density and makes the bowl taste of something rather than merely being wholesome.
Use plant milk, not water. Water gives you the ingredients and nothing else. Milk of any kind adds fat, which carries flavour — most aroma compounds are fat-soluble — and gives the bowl body. This single change makes more difference than anything else you can do to it.
And let it stand. A minute, ideally two. These blends contain ground seeds that need time to hydrate; eaten immediately they are gritty, and eaten a minute later they are smooth. Almost everyone eats them too soon.
Practical notes: it travels well in a jar for a desk breakfast, works cold overnight in the fridge like overnight oats, and takes well to a spoonful of nut butter if you want it to hold you until lunch — fat and protein slow the release of the carbohydrate considerably.
