Step 1/10
Break the eggs into a bowl and beat them lightly with a fork.
Step 2/10
Add most of the flour and mix.
Step 3/10
Turn the dough out onto the table and knead, adding the remaining flour little by little, until you have a firm elastic dough that does not stick to your hands.
Step 4/10
Shape the finished dough into a ball, wrap it in film, and leave it to rest for 30 minutes.
Step 5/10
Roll the dough into a sheet 1 mm thick, then cut it into strips about 3 cm wide and about 6 cm long.
Step 6/10
Make a lengthwise cut in the centre of each strip, then turn one end inward through the cut so that two spirals form.
Step 7/10
Shape the rest in the same way, or make any other forms you like, but fold the dough this way for classic khvorost.
Step 8/10
Heat the sunflower oil in a saucepan.
Step 9/10
Fry the pieces in batches in the boiling oil until golden, then transfer the cooked khvorost to a napkin so the excess oil can be absorbed.
Step 10/10
Dust the khvorost with icing sugar before serving.
