A set of hair care essentials from Natura Siberica, built around wild-harvested Siberian botanicals.
Why buying a set is usually the sensible way in
Two reasons that are genuinely practical rather than promotional.
Products in a range are formulated to work together. That matters more in hair care than people expect: a shampoo's surfactant system and a conditioner's cationic agents are designed as a pair, and mixing aggressively-cleansing shampoo from one brand with a light conditioner from another is how people end up with results neither product was designed to give.
And it lets you find out whether a range suits you before committing. Hair is idiosyncratic — what transforms one person's hair does nothing for another's — and there is no way to know except by trying. A set is a considerably cheaper experiment than three full bottles.
The Siberian botanical argument
Natura Siberica build their ranges on wild-harvested northern plants, and there is a real reason that is not just romance. Plants produce polyphenols partly as a defence against ultraviolet light, cold and the oxidative stress both cause — and a plant under more stress makes more of them. Wild plants at high latitude, facing weeks of intense summer light, extreme cold and a very short growing season, consistently show higher polyphenol concentrations than cultivated equivalents.
Making any hair routine work
More depends on technique than on product, and these are free.
Shampoo the scalp, condition the ends. Never the other way round, never both everywhere. Conditioner at the roots is the main cause of flat, greasy hair; shampoo scrubbed through the lengths is a main cause of frizz.
Squeeze the water out before conditioning, or the product is diluted before it can bind.
Detangle wet, with conditioner in, using a wide-tooth comb from the ends upward. Wet hair is at its most fragile and this is when most breakage happens.
Rinse thoroughly, and finish cool. Residue weighs hair down; cool water helps the cuticle lie flat, which is what shine is.
