A soft, sweet, caffeine-free infusion of fair-trade rooibos and real vanilla with French-grown chamomile. It is the gentlest thing in the range and the one most likely to be drunk by everyone in the house.
A note on how this is usually listed
You will often find this tea listed with a long run of words attached — "Herbal tea / Infusion / Celebration / Gifts / Aromatic plants / Herbalism / Well-being / Relaxation / Easter / Vanilla / Latte / Milk / Gourmet / Children / Family". That is search-engine keyword text, never meant for a customer to read, and you will not find it here.
One allergen note — please read if you have hay fever
Chamomile is in the daisy family (Asteraceae). If you react to ragweed, chrysanthemum, marigold, arnica or daisies, approach chamomile carefully — cross-reactivity is well documented, and reactions to chamomile tea, though uncommon, are reported. If you have never drunk chamomile before and you have significant hay fever, start with a weak cup.
Why rooibos is the right base for this
Rooibos (Aspalathus linearis) is a legume shrub from the Cederberg mountains of South Africa — and it grows nowhere else in the world, despite a century of attempts. Two things make it unusually good here:
-
No caffeine at all, naturally — not decaffeinated, simply a plant that never contained any.
-
Very low tannin, which is why rooibos does not turn bitter or astringent no matter how long you leave it. Forget a pot of tea and it is ruined; forget a pot of rooibos and it is merely stronger.
That second point is what makes it the natural base for a children's drink and for a latte: it takes milk without curdling into tannic bitterness, and it forgives a distracted brewer.
What is in it and where it comes from
- 100% organic infusion
- Chamomile grown in France
- Fair trade rooibos and vanilla
- Blended in France with named partner producers
- Compostable inner envelope, recyclable cardboard box, no plastic
The vanilla is real vanilla, which is worth noting — most "vanilla" tea is flavouring.
How to make it well
Boiling water, five to eight minutes, covered. It cannot be over-brewed. For the version this blend was made for: brew it double strength in half the water, then top up with hot milk — dairy or oat both work — for a caffeine-free vanilla latte that a child can have at bedtime and an adult can have at four in the afternoon without consequences.
No health claim is authorised in the EU for chamomile, rooibos or vanilla, and we do not make any. This is a moment of sweetness, and that is exactly enough.
